I’ve become a bit obsessed.  I’ve been listing and sewing and crafting and reading and shopping and agonizing and purchasing and hauling and dragging and throwing and and and…

Phew.  I’m getting a bit worn out.  What with all the presents needing to be bought and the complete slight lack of help from the spouse.  I feel like I’m the one coming up with what to buy everyone for Christmas, including his family.  Well, some of it is done because we have a list system that I also agonize… (see above) over.  Thankfully, our gift exchange partners have submitted their list.  I can’t say the same for some of the rest of them.  Which brings me to his parents.  I’ve been buying stuff for them too.  A cheese grater and meat thermometer.  Fancy spicy dill pickles I found at Pier One.  A book about quilting and some nice smelly soy candles.

Yesterday I dragged all three kids with my while we dropped car off at fix-it-rip-off place dealership to get the window fixed.  You see, Sunday night after work, I inadvertently rolled down my window to spit out my gum (don’t judge me) and the window refused to roll back up!  So I had to drive the entire way home with it wide open, rendering my head quite frozen by the time I reached our apartment.  Then after dropping daddy back off at work, we drove out to see the house (the wood has been dropped off!) while the 3 of them slept.  I continued to galavant around the county, seeing the sights, checking things out, until I arrived, rather round-about-ly at Best Buy.  I dragged them all in to pick up the Jason Bourne Collection for my BIL.  Then I dragged them all to Target to pick up another DVD present and some travel accessories for some ditty bags I sewed for my dad, brother and sister’s boyfriend.

Are you feeling the urgent craziness in my writing yet?  I totally am.  I can barely type fast enough to keep up with my mania.

Three hours after the drop-off, we went back to pick up my husband, who was just getting done with a meeting at 5:00.   I kidnapped him and made him go out to eat and then to the local map supply to get this book for my dad.  I saw it on the local morning show and thought it looked perfect for my dad.

Sad to say, the map supply was OUT of that book (most likely due to its appearance on the morning show, which the salesman had no idea of).  That led to to Gander Mountain, because I was told they had it too.

Thankfully, they had the book.  I’m so lost in those sorts of stores and we spent a while wandering around look at all the crazy hunting/fishing/etc things they had there (my favorite was a bobble-head bass, but at $14.99, it was a no-go).

Sewing spaceWe made it home in time to put the kids to bed a bit late and find that our window was leaking due to large amounts of ice frozen to the roof and the screen.  It’s the window behind my sewing machine.  Now everything is moved off the desk and there is a large hole in the screen where the maintenance man thought he could break the icicle off.  Oy vey.  It hasn’t been dripping all day… until now.  I hear it.  Menacing water heard over the yelling, screaming, fighting and crying of three children.  (click picture for almost life-size)

Today, the manic is still there, but I’m out of time for the day, so I haven’t started my chocolate-covered pretzels, lest I have to leave for work in the middle of the job and everyone eats my efforts.

Phew again!

I do believe my shopping is almost complete.  Save for some spices I need to go downtown to purchase.

And the one consequence to my nuttiness, besides my sanity, is my hair.  I cut it.  Yet again.  When will it end!

Thankfully, it’s time for me to go to work, I can’t take much more of this.
