I started reading Jane Austen’s Persuasion last night. That really helped me get tired enough to fall asleep! HA! I love Jane Austen, it’s just all those big words that make my brain tired lately. I still comprehended a lot of it, but I will probably have to re-read a bit so I remember what’s going on. Especially the first few paragraphs. That old style of writing is hard to understand when you are awake, let alone half asleep.
Speaking of Jane Austen, I watched Becoming Jane last weekend. What a great movie! Anne Hathaway was wonderful in it. I loved to learn about Austen’s life, though I don’t know how faithful the movie was. I also cried at one point. The heartbreak! And because I’m hardly coherent enough to type, there is hardly anything more I can say right now. I’ve been so tired lately and not getting enough long stretches of sleep really wears me down and slows up my brain.
I did pull it together enough yesterday to ask some pertinent questions to SE’s possible future teacher. There is a wonderful church in our new hometown and along with it a wonderful school. The school was built in 2004, but they have been running a school for over 80 years. It’s a wonderful tradition and nurturing environment. The new building is welcoming and the classrooms full of happy children. I love this trend of putting the kindergarten rooms a little separate from the rest of the school, with their own bathrooms and playground. They really watch out for the little ones. The principle was wonderful (really?); we were very impressed with her knowing names of random children seen in the hall or the library. There is parent involvement; well, you have to do 40 hours a year, but they ones we met were very lovely! And they’ll pair us up with a family that has been there a while to help us adjust and feel a part of the parish.
From that last paragraph, I hope you gathered that we really like this school. Yes we do. The downside is that it will cost $2555 just for SE to go. And if SM can get the potty training act together before the next school year, he can go to 4K in the mornings or afternoons. So that would add another $1200 at least (they’re changing 4K from 3 days a week to mornings or afternoons, so we’re not sure of the tuition yet). That’s expensive! AND those are the parish member prices. So we were yakking about what to cut out so we can afford the 500$ a month tuition. Oy vey. Or, more appropriately, some exclamation in Latin.
Decisions, decisions.

Holy cow, good news! And also some news to make the majority of this post moot. Hubby just got his yearly review and he got the same % raise he just got a few months ago, plus a giant bonus. So now we don’t have to worry about the school! Yay!
Happy Thursday to everyone. Pictures to come once I find the camera that I found and then lost again.!
